I'm back. Again. Here to talk about more games, surprisingly. Lets get started, shall we? First off, lets talk about this "Halo" game I've been hearing so much about. They just released the PC demo. I'd put a link to the 3dGamers site, but I don't want to bother with the HTML. Anywho, I cannot see why everyone puts such high stock in this game. Is it a good game? Yes. Is it an excellent game? Yes. Deserving of all the praise it got? Somewhat. Let me elaborate.
Halo was one of the first games for the Xbox and considered to be one of the best by most Xbox fans. There is a reason for this. The Xbox has HORRIBLE games. There are the occasional games, KOTOR and Crimson Skies come to mind at the moment, but this was the first truly good game for the system. It got all the praise it did because it would remain the consoles only truly good game for such a long time. It was one of the few deserving games to make it onto Gamespy's god awful "25 Most Overrated Games of All Time". There, I have that off my chest.
Now we come back to my troubles with EA. I managed to find a solution just as there crack squad of programming assassins busted through my door. Unfortunately the soulution involves the words "formatting" and "hard drive". A bad ending to an even worse story.
I leave you with this tidbit: "Of course I'm outta my mind. It's dark and scary in there"

I'm back at school again. Hurrah. I can hardly conatain my excitement. Those of you unlucky enough to have read ALL my posts should know that the previous statements were indeed, sarcasm. I have a bit of a cold right now, and if you didn't know that I hate colds, then you haven't been reading my posts, have you!?!?! Shame on you! I have sent the pain below (Obvious Chevelle reference), so scroll down to experience it from the start.
Now, I'm pretty angry at the moment. I cannot believe that one of my favorite games of all time (ONE OF!!! FFVII will always have that place in my heart...), Battlefield 1942. It all started with the release of the 1.45 patch. I tried downloading the incremental patch to no avail. My brilliant mind hatched up the plan to do a clean reinstall. I uninstalled the game and placed the original CD in to start the reinstalling process. But wait! Where's the CD case?!?! That has the CD key on it! I searched for several days and came up with the conclusion that it was lost forever. I then did what any loyal customer would do, complain to EA!
Well, after several days of procrastinating, I sent them a digital picture of my CD, name, address, etc. Well, they gave me a new CD key within 5 minutes of sending the complaint. So, I reinstalled the game with the new CD key, downloaded the 1.45 full patch, installed that, and ran the game. I was unimpressed with the fact that you now have to switch CDs with different expansion maps. But wait, there's more! Every time I try to join a server, I get a "Data differs from server" message! I had the same problem with the Secret Weapons of WWII demo, but thought it was just the demo itself. Well, I guess it's the new 1.45 technology they are implementing (SW of WWII uses that patch as a base) because my retail verson of the game does the same thing. So, what do I do? I complain to EA again! I am currently awaiting their response. I am also currently sitting in the dark, full of anger towards one of my favorite video game publishers, EA.
It's time for me to leave again. I fear that EA's customer service has located me and is sending their crack squad of programmer assassins to eliminate me. Actually, I just want a drink.
I leave you with this little tid bit: "If you hire a clown, you'll laugh for an afternoon. If you hand a clown an m80, you'll have a very colorful mess."

Well, it's the beginning of the end. Or the end of a beginning. Er, what? Well anyways, I got my schedule for school a couple days ago. This, of course, means that I will be going back to school soon. But more importantly, this means that summer is ending. I hate the cold, and it can only get colder from here. Blech.
Last weekend I went to a friend of mines pig roast. Yes, that's right, a pig roast. Now, I was there for a great portion of the weekend. At this event my friend's relatives and friend's come up from their homes in Rhode Island. This results in a lot of drunken flatlanders wandering aimlessly from tent to tent. I went to this pigroast with one goal in mind. To get a picture of one of my teachers holding a beer. The past couple of pig roasts one of my teachers has shown up, beer in hand. I had an opportunity to catch him, but it was night time and I would have had to used the flash, blowing my cover. He never did show up again, but there is always next year...
I have a new controller for my PS2, which my mother lovingly bought for me. The dog of hers has probably chewed up more than 200 dollars worth of my things, including my prized Patriots hat. How I loved that hat...
I will mention this again and again until you finally heed my advice. Check out Rocktopus now. Do it. Now. Don't be shy, it wont hurt. You'll be doing yourself a favor in the long run, so just do it.
Today's words of wisdom: "In a pinch, cats make a good replacement for a chicken dinner. Try it someday."

I'm going to jump into this headfirst. America's Army Has just released version 1.9 of the game. This leads me to believe that 1.8 was so crappy, they skipped straight to 1.9. Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing.
Version 1.9 is pretty much a complete overhaul of the previous America's Army. It adds the new Medic class (complete with overly boring Medic training), a new GUI, new character models, and a badass multiplayer mode. Let's go back to the overly boring Medic training for a sec. Now, this is a very different affair than the other training modes. It consists of you going through ACTUAL boring first aid training and taking ACTUAL boring tests over the boring first aid training. Then, you get to the field exam, which sounds exciting in theory, but all you have to do is walk up to three injured people and treat them in the order of their condition. No live fire or anything. And then when you actually get to PLAY as the medic, all they do is stop blood loss. No actual healing of the condition, but bloodloss will drain you over time. Other than the lameness of the Medic, it's all cool though. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Punkbuster. Woo.
Now on to Battlefield 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII. Yes, I have TRIED to play the demo, but I keep getting errors when I try to log on to the server. So I resorted to the *shudder* single player mode. Most diehard BF1942 fans out there think the new weapons and vehicles are inappropriate. I, on the other hand, feel that they are a nice breath of fresh air. Not to mention that the Engineer can now actually hold his own in a firefight. I'm a little unimpressed by the demo map, but I believe it will play better in objective mode. Oh yes, I said objective mode. This is one of the aspects that has me especially psyched. The Battle of Britain map gave us all a taste of objective mode, but now it's the real deal. I cannot wait.
I have also played the recent XIII. Now, this has the potential to be one really great game. The cel shading could not be more on the money for the visual. This is, after all, based on a "graphic novel" of sorts. But, the comic style of play is more than just a visual gimmick, it also provides various clues to gameplay elements. Oooh, the panels just pointed out a pass I need to get or that I can swing off of this hook. Not to mention the awsome panels when you get a headshot on someone. I could watch that all day. I have very high expectations for XIII.
As for my personal life and how gaming relates to it, my dog just chewed my last PS2 controller. This was the one I bought AFTER the dog chewed my other controler. So for the moment I am controllerless. This stinks because I was making good process in Final Fantasy VI and now it has ruined my groove. I will now share with you my not-so-secret way to make all Final Fantasies easier. Don't run from any battles unless you HAVE to. This will make the beginning of the games a little bit longer and slightly more tedious, but it will help, A LOT, in the long run. There you have it. The longest rant I've made to date.
Today's words of wisdom: "When working those dull late night shifts at your local mini-mart, flamethrowers are a good break from the normal pace."

Well folks, I'm back. I've been playing the FFXI beta and I guess I have played it out. Thats right, I'm giving it up. Not really by choice, it's just that there are so many people on and not enough people to play with. Confused? So am I.
Speaking of too many people on FFXI, there is one aspect of that which really ticks me off. I signed up for the beta. I was picked out of all the other people whom signed up. I felt proud. Now they are giving away the beta through special promotions. ATI had a deal where people could get into the PC beta. I talk to one person who got in for buying a computer. That's right, buying a computer. Now, this person has never PLAYED a Final Fantasy game, let alone BEAT one. Am I the only one who senses something wrong?
I've been listening to a lot of Rocktopus lately. Now this band rocks. Plain and simple. All of you with a cable or DSL connection, do yourself a favor and listen to their ENTIRE second album on the website. The quality is a little low, but you cant beat the price.
Well, I'm back to stay this time, so stay tuned for more updates from me in the near future. Hello RollChan!!!

In today's news, I gave a friend my free LiveJournal account. His online name is DragonNova and you can check out his LiveJournal here. He's a good guy, so check it out.
In other news, I'm still waiting for my frigging beta kit. I've been waiting for it for, like, three weeks. But good news is on the horizon, because there are rumors going around saying that they sent them from Illinois. If so, I should get mine early next week.
I got out of school for the summer yesterday. Boy did it feel good. I have three long months ahead of me. I expect to play the FFXI beta like there is no tommorow, and you can bet that I am still going to post a lot of crap about games. Not the beta though, that would be violating the non-disclosure agreement. I will try to put together a beta journal though, so you can see my progression after the game is released.
You probably won't hear from me for a long time, I will be playing the beta soon. I know that's what I said last time, but I was young an naive then. I'm really getting it this time. I hope...

I've still been posting like mad on that FFXI beta message board. The admin actually made me a moderator for a couple of the boards. I can feel the power coursing through my veins! Er... uh... nevermind.
I've been setting up ambushes for the mailman lately, so when the beta arrives, I will be ready. The only reason I have the time to type this is because it is Sunday, and as most of you know (hopefully) mail doesn't arrive on Sunday. If it was Monday though, I'd be too busy hiding in the bushes with my binoculars.
My friend, Tyce from the beta message board, has a really cool site filled with projects from his advertising class in college. You should check it out, especially the catalog, because it will make you want to buy things you can't afford. Anyway, the site is Groov Designs.
You probably won't hear from me for a while, because I will be playing the FFXI Beta!

I've been hounding the message boards lately. I like arguing with other people. It is a great stress reliever. The time when I do this most is on the GameFAQs message boards. Why you might ask? Because I HATE the GameFAQs message boards. Everyone on there thinks they know everything, yet they are on a site that GIVES THEM ANSWERS!!! It gets my blood boiling.
For those of you people out there in TV Land didn't get what beta I was accepted to, its Final Fantasy XI (thats 11 for those of you who don't watch Rocky movies). Lately I've been posting on a message board dedicated to the FFXI beta. Those of you who read my journal (if any at all) have been accepted to the beta (that REALLY narrows it down), you should check it out.

Tonight I recieved the most wonderful news!! I've been accepted to an awesome beta test. I can't exactly say what it is, but it has the initals F,F,X,I. For those of you astute enough to piece that together, it is the PS2 version. I haven't been this happy in a LONG time.
Lately I've been playing my guitar. "Guitar" is my pet name for Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. You heard right, I caved in and got the game. I'm not too dissapointed though. The only problem is that the game is kinda buggy for me. But I've learned toget used too it.
So as I eagerly await my BETA KIT from, uh, Huaresoft... (See Penny-Arcade, strip Just Add H) I'll keep you posted.
I leave you with this note "I WAS ACCEPTED TO THE BETA!!! HA!!!" Me, Laughing at YOU!!! HA!!!

Holy crap, I feel sick. As I write this entry I am continuing to spiral down a drain of misery and torment. No, not school, a cold. I hate colds. I cant focus on games as well when I'm sick, partially because I'm in constant pain.
Having this cold still didn't stop me from beating Max Payne today. Yes,that game is pretty old, and no, I hadn't beat it before. It was not as good as I hoped, but it was still cool to have finished it.
I signed up to beta test FFXI a while ago. I probably won't get in, but it's nice to have goals. I'm not to sure about it being a MMORPG though. If they wanted to make an online Final Fantasy then they should have named it Final Fantasy Online, or something to that effect, not Final Fantasy XI. The main series should remain stricty offline and continue to have amazing stories (yes, I am ignoring FFVIII and FFV).
I need to buy a new controller for my PS2, but the only money I have is my guitar money. How much I've longed to spend that money, you cannot comprehend, but lets just say a lot. I just need to hold out until tommorow and then I can decide what to spend it on.
I woke up this morning to the smell of burnt gunpowder. I looked into the jungle around me, anticipating Charlie to jump out at any time. As I cradeled my machine gun to my chest I heard a sound behind me. When I turned around there stood the largest ball of twine in the world. Then I woke up. True story.
So today I leave you with a quote: "In this world gone mad, we won't spank the monkey. The monkey will spank us." - Jay, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

If you haven't played it, try out Battlefield 1942. This game is awesome beyond belief. The only catch is that the multiplayer is the only good part and you need broadband to enjoy it. I've also been playing America's Army a lot lately. The new 1.7 patch is kinda buggy though. It adds the Bridge SE map, though I never liked the original bridge map all too well.
Speaking of Tom Clancy, I'm trying hard not to buy Raven Shield or Splinter Cell (or both) with my guitar money. I hear that they are great games, but I gotta stick to my convictions. Stupid guitar.
If you haven't heard of them, check out Penny Arcade. They are at E3 this week, somewhere I would like to be. Who knows, if this site gets popular enough I could start my own gaming website and be able to go. That is my goal it the moment. Until I get more experience with web design, this will have to do.
I leave you with this bit of wisdom: "If you can't dazzle them with brillience, riddle them with bullets."

Testing, testing, 1...2...3..., TESTING!!! Ok, it works. This is the first entry into my live journal. Yay. Coincidentally yesterday was my birthday. I guess this was my present from my sister. You may know her as A Girl Named Goo or Goo for short. I know her as "Sis", "Sissy", or "That Girl" (no not Gidget).
Those of you unlucky enough to have stumbled across my site may want to know a little bit more about me. Or not, but you'll live. I play games. RPG's mostly but shooters are a close second. Final Fantasy is one of the greatest things to grace my insignificant life. So as this journal progresses you can expect to hear a lot of crap about what games i'm playing, game news, and stuff about games. A LOT of stuff about games.
Speaking of guitars, I just received a healthy sum of money for my birthday. How much, I will not say, but I will say it's enough to make me feel like a BIG MAN. So I'm considering on buying a guitar, but my habit for impulse buying keeps making me want to purchase a shiny new GAME (there's that word again) for my computer. I can't buy one for my PS2 because a certain little canine has chewed all of my controller cables.
So I leave you with this little bit of information. "It just so happens that the diameter of the tip of my right index finger and right nostril are the same."
